Eichler, Los Altos CA

This Eichler's post-and-beam ceiling is also its roof, leaving no space to recess a traditional downlight. In the Cooking scene, the counters and sink are the highlight, avoiding shadows and focused on task performance. Late evening, when entertaining guests over Brie et Bordeaux, a press of a keypad button makes the room intimate and cozy. During the evenings, the living room automatically switches into a beautiful scene with washed ceilings and focus on the art on the walls.

A 265 sqft ADU designed for one occupant, showing a living, sleeping and working space. The ADU has an east facing glazed wall that provides plenty of daylight but also significant glare for morning work. Daylight studies were used in producing a unified shading and lighting design that allows for privacy, daylight, glare control for morning work and cozy lighting for evening relaxation, all in one space.

Ranch home, Sunnyvale CA

Unbuilt

A unique kitchen with no upper cabinets leaving no space for under-cabinet lighting. Ceiling mounted lights were fine tuned to provide counter lighting with no glare or shadows. A home office setup that needed to support daytime work in face of sunlight glare from a window, as well as late night work, supporting circadian health goals.
